Constance Del Vecchio – Maltese’s Painting About the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire

Constance Del Vecchio-Maltese and former New York State Senator Serphin Maltese have been married for over 50 years. Constance is a celebrated artist best known for her portrait series “The Age of Discovery Navigators” and “American Women.” The connection between her husband’s family and the Triangle Shirtwaist Fire inspired Constance to create a new painting commemorating the fire’s centennial. The painting features portraits of Serphin’s grandmother, Catarina, and aunts, Luccia and Rosarea, who died in the fire.

In this video, Constance shows us the significant work she has completed on the painting, which she will unveil at a commemoration ceremony at Christ the King High School in Queens on March 25.
