Jose Bayona is a bilingual multimedia reporter. In the last year he has worked as writer for NY1 News/Noticias and the AARP online publication; social media content manager for The Humpty Dumpty Institute in Manhattan; and podcast producer and translator for CUNY’s Communications Department. He has also taught workshops on Social Media and SEO for Spanish-speaking journalists at various media conferences in New York.
Bayona is a Cum Laude graduate of the CUNY Baccalaureate Program for Unique and Interdisciplinary Studies/Baruch College in Journalism and Political Science, and currently is a Master candidate at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism in the Urban Reporting concentration and the Interactive and Multimedia track.
Until September 2008, Bayona worked as a reporter and assistant editor for the Spanish publication of the New York Daily News, and as editor for the “Español” section in the New York Daily News’s website.
Born in Colombia, and a Venezuelan and U.S. citizen, Bayona also has more than fifteen years of experience in film and theater in Venezuela and the U.S. A few titles under his belt as a producer are “Bus Stop” and “The Bugchaser.” He has worked in the production of feature films such as “Violeta of a Thousand Colors” and “Sicario.” In theater, he has directed “90 Miles of Separation” for the Manhattan Producers Club, and produced “Requiem for a Life” for the Lincoln Center.” Bayona holds a Film Production Certificate from New York University.

José Bayona es periodista multimedia bilingüe (inglés y español) basado en Nueva York. En el último año ha trabajado como escritor de noticias para NY1 News/Noticias, y para la publicación en línea de AARP, además como coordinador de redes sociales en The Humpty Dumpty Institute en Manhattan, y como productor de podcasts y traductor para el Departamento de Comunicaciones de la Universidad de la Ciudad de Nueva York. También ha dictado talleres sobre Redes Sociales para periodistas y Optimización de Contenido en varias conferencias en Nueva York.
Bayona es graduado Cum Laude del Programa Baccalaureate de CUNY/Baruch College en periodismo y ciencias políticas. Actualmente realiza un posgrado en la Escuela Graduada de Periodismo de CUNY en la concentración de periodismo urbano y las áreas de periodismo interactivo y multimedia.
Hasta septiembre de 2008, trabajó como reportero y editor asistente de la publicación en español del New York Daily News, y como editor en línea de la sección en español del sitio web del periódico.
Nacido en Colombia y ciudadano venezolano y estadounidense, posee más de 15 años de experiencia en cine y teatro en Venezuela y Estados Unidos. Algunos títulos que ha producido son “Bus Stop” y “The Bugchaser”. En teatro ha dirigido “90 Miles of Separation” para el Manhattan Producers Club, y producido “Requiem for a Life” para el Lincoln Center. Es también graduado de New York University con un certificado en producción de cine.
